I attempted to spend 24 HOURS in a VR HORROR game
I attempted to spend 24 hours in VR. The horror game I was choosing to do this in is called, “Stranger” its made by, “Lost Frame Development” and I got to be a voice actor for this game. I unfortunately only made it 9-10 hours before calling it quits. I will go in more detail on that later, first I want to discuss what the experience was like.
Hour 1
Going into the first hour was the most fun by far. I was filled with excitement that I will be spending an entire day in this game. I did start the challenge a couple hours later than I anticipated due to technical issues, and partly my lack of preparation. The developer also has hinted at a decent amount of lore to the game, and so I had hopes I could put some finger on what it is.
Hour 2
The timeframe I choose for this challenge hit me in this face at this point. It made me realize 24 hours is a decent amount of time. I realized I would be done at 8pm the following day, which is bizarre to think about. I thought it would be easier because I did a 24 hours in VR challenge one time before, but that one I allowed myself to open any VR title I wanted to. To start preventing some of the fatigue I would just walk around the house and wait to start the match.
Hour 3
At this point, the fatigue was really starting to get to me. I couldn’t convince myself otherwise. I also shed a couple tears, no idea why, but it did happen. I was also starting to notice more bugs, one involved the flashlights shadow freezing up. The other bug I found was preventing the Stranger from spawning, but still letting me get through the night. I ended up beating the two harder difficulties from this bug. I decided to lay on my floor and stare at the ceiling fan in the game, which just led me into my bed in the next hour.
4:45am
I was sleeping pretty good considering I had a very chonky piece of plastic on my head, however something started to bother me, so I woke up. I woke up to light, and not in game light, my ceiling light. I really wanted to just put the headset back on and say stuff happens, but my body told me I would just be laying there the whole day if I try again. I decided to listen to my body and call it quits.
Conclusion
I am looking forward to more types of these challenges and adding more difficulty to them where I can actually fail. Challenges are fun in themselves, but they are really fun if they are in fact challenging. Please go check out the game on steam, the developer is awesome and so is the game. A lot of strategy is needed to do a good job in it.
