In this episode of Linguini’s Dough we interview Justson from the, “Two Goblins & a Goliath” Podcast and talk about his fear of failing at something that is really important to him, whatever that be. After talking with him I found spots in my life where I also have this fear, it was fun hearing him expand on that.

The start of this episode of Linguini’s Dough is Justson introducing himself. This includes things like his interests in being an entertainer through different means. He also collects bicycle playing cards, but buys two of every pack so he can use one as well.
Justson’s biggest fear is to fail at something he is truly passionate about and wants to succeed at. The thought of it not working out, prevents him from furthering the skill.
The first little bit our discussion is about Justsons current podcast, “Two Goblins & a Goliath” when he created it with his cohost, they originally agreed to have Justson do all the work, and his cohost would just be there to record. Justson quickly realized that won’t work out, too much on his end and let his buddy know. His friend tried to say he would do more in that discussion, but nothing to show. A few weeks later Justson said he wasn’t doing it with him, and his cohost didn’t care that much.
The next little bit of this podcast episode, Justson talks about what is important to him, like his family, and things that make him fulfilled like stand up comedy. DND also fits that criteria. We continue to talk about why these things in entertainment make him fulfilled.
Justsons childhood left a lot of neglect from his parents. His Dad was a businessman, who was out working all the time. When he did come home, his family prepared like it was something big even though they did not care that much for him, and he would be on the phone while he was at home. His Mom wouldn’t really listen to him, he could say something random and she would just nod like she was listening. Justson only realized the neglect through therapy he has gone through in his adult life.
This neglect left Justson to feel fulfilled by entertaining others, by stand-up comedy or magic for example. It gave him some way to express how it felt, without enduring the pain or really facing the problems.
He was offered a real opportunity in his young adult life for stand-up comedy. More than just an open mic. People wanted him to be there. As he was in the parking lot getting ready to head up on stage, he just got the presence what if the people don’t like him, and he fails as a comidian. Nobody in the audience knew him personally to give a I know you laugh. He drove off without saying a word, and never heard from any of them again.
Moving on, we talk about his experience with therapy. His first go at it, went terrible. The therapist was no good. He tried another therapist, and his experience has been great since. It helped him realize all the neglect in his life.
To end off the shownotes part of this, I asked him why he was able to keep doing his DND podcast. After thinking about it long and hard, he said he gave up. He gave up on the idea of being successful for it, and just enjoyed doing it. I think that’s something you can apply in many things you do, not everything needs to be a side hustle.
